Cast of Lincoln's Right Hand

This piece is replicated from an original cast of Lincoln's right hand, which was created the day after Lincoln was nominated to run as the Republican presidential candidate in 1860. Because Lincoln had shaken so many hands on the day he was nominated, his right hand was swollen and shaking. The artist, Leonard Volk, suggested that Lincoln find something to grasp in order to hold his hand steady, and Lincoln found a broom handle in his woodshed which he used to steady himself. The artist was able to proceed, and the rest is history, captured in this amazing replica, perfect for any area of your home.
